Hosting Thanksgiving can seem like a big task. Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving for the first time, you host Thanksgiving annually or you are hosting a small Friendsgiving these 25 simple decor ideas to prepare for hosting Thanksgiving will give you some great ideas. A lot of preparation can be placed on the host for Thanksgiving. It can be a lot to host when it comes to all the food and preparing your space. I’m all about making things easier and functional. Consider using disposable platters, plates, napkins and utensils if possible to make cleaning up simple. Also, keep the decor simple you don’t need to spend hours decorating to add some Thanksgiving decor. Some simple table decor, wall signs, or wreaths will offer a crisp fall feel without having to spend hours decorating. Also, using the place settings and drinks can be an easy way to decorate. Consider thanksgiving themed plates, napkins, straws, serving trays and more. Most of all remember it’s a time to be surrounded by loved ones and give thanks, so don’t sweat the small stuff too much.

Drink Ideas to Prepare for Hosting Thanksgiving:

Keep the drinks simple. You don’t want to have to be serving up drinks and crafting cocktails all day on top of preparing the food and spending time with friends and family. Consider putting out coolers with drinks, serving pitchers with premade cocktails, or a large bucket filled with ice and drinks. Place the drinks in a convenient location with glassware nearby. This will make it easy and convenient for everyone to access as needed. You could also make the drinks a little festive by adding some Thanksgiving cocktail napkins or straws. Even having some fall inspired drinks can be a fun addition. Serving a spiked apple cider, sangria, apple or pumpkin flavored cocktail could be a great addition to your Thanksgiving celebration.

Food Ideas to Prepare for Hosting Thanksgiving:

Thanksgiving typically involves gathering around a lot of food for many families. If you are hosting Thanksgiving one of the easiest ways to prepare is to ask everyone to bring a dish. I would especially recommend doing this if you have a large group attending. This is a great way for everyone to try new things. It also guarantees everyone will have a dish they like and the host isn’t responsible for preparing all the food. If possible try to start a collective list prior to Thanksgiving, so everyone can see what others are bringing. Another idea is to ask some people to bring a side dish and some bring an appetizer to avoid having all the same items. Utilizing Thanksgiving themed plates and napkins is another simple way to get festive without a ton of effort.

Serving Tray Ideas to Prepare for Hosting Thanksgiving:

If you host Thanksgiving annually or are looking for a gift for the host consider some fun Thanksgiving serving dishes. Holidays usually require more serving dishes then you would typically use day to day, so this makes a great gift for the host to be able to use each year. If you host Thanksgiving frequently having some Thanksgiving serving dishes is another fun, but also practical way to decorate for the holiday.

Home Decor Ideas to Prepare for Hosting Thanksgiving:

When it comes to home decor for Thanksgiving I don’t think anything needs to be too extravagant. I like to think of just some simple fall decor that you maybe have had up since before Thanksgiving. Some small Thanksgiving decor items with things like turkeys might be fun if you have kids, but generally speaking some small fall decor items will work perfectly.

To keep things pretty simple I’d say the first item to consider decorating for Thanksgiving especially if you are hosting is the dining room table. After all Thanksgiving is going to surround everyone around the table, so that’s the first place I’d focus on. A simple table runner, maybe small faux pumpkins, fall candles, fall flowers, and/or greenery will do the trick. Remember there is going to be food possibly in the center of the table if you are serving Thanksgiving family style, so you want to leave space for everyone to eat comfortable. Even if you serve Thanksgiving as a buffet style there will still likely be multiple people eating at the table, so you don’t want to over crowd it with decor.

After the dining room table if you choose to add a little more home decor to the house some other options could be to decorate the front porch, living room, or coffee table. A nice fall wreath, thankful sign, pumpkins, or fall flowers are great options to decorate the front porch. Decorating the living room for thanksgiving could include some fall themed pillows on the couch, warm toned colors for pillows/throw blankets, or pumpkin decor on the coffee table. Seasonal garlands are another way you could decorate your space for fall. You could place a fall garland on your mantle, TV console, wall, or even a drink/food station. The possibilities are endless.

Thanksgiving Gathering Ideas:

Every family has some different Thanksgiving traditions whether it be something they do or food that is served. If you are hosting Thanksgiving consider maybe starting something new this year. Lastly, remember that Thanksgiving is about being around friends and family. Enjoy spending the time together and don’t worry too much about all the details. Here are some ideas of some things that you could do on Thanksgiving:
