Great Budget Friendly Ideas for Outdoor Patio

We recently updated our backyard to include an outdoor patio space. We’ve been planning this outdoor patio space for a while, so it was great to finally get started on it. We ultimately decided on going with a gravel patio DIY. You can check out some of the other patio options we debated on here. Along with the gravel patio we also stenciled the cement portion of our patio space. We love how the whole patio space has come together. Here are some great budget friendly ideas for an outdoor patio.

The Outdoor Patio

First, we created the actual patio space. We decided to go with something a little different by creating a gravel patio. I loved the idea of having something that was both budget friendly and unique. We used salt and pepper gravel to create a grey and white gravel patio. It offers exactly what we were looking for, which was having an area to be able to play outdoor games and sit outside to relax. You can check out exactly how we created the gravel patio DIY here.

Stenciling a Patio that’s Concrete

Aside from building the gravel patio we already had a small cement portion outside. We knew we didn’t want to tear up all the concrete, so the challenge was how to make the concrete and gravel flow together to create one cohesive space. The cement had previously been painted and was chipping away, so it needed a little cosmetic work too. We ultimately decided on stenciling the patio using paint. It turned out better then we could have imagined. The black and white painted concrete ties in perfectly with the grey and white granite. Outdoor Patio Seating Area

Once the entire patio space was created it was time to add some outdoor furniture, so we could start enjoying the space. We found a beautiful brown and grey outdoor patio set that was the perfect addition to the space. We wanted to stick with the neutral color scheme and the grey cushions looked great with the gravel. The seating area includes a sectional couch, dining table, and two stools that can function as ottomans or additional seats. Check out this post for more details on outdoor patio seating and decor.

Outdoor Fire Pit Area

The other thing we knew we wanted to include with our outdoor patio space was a fire pit area. Although we live in Florida we still enjoy having outdoor fires the few months it is cooler outside. We found a beautiful grey and wood fire pit that matched the neutral color scheme perfectly. For the sitting around the fire pit we decided to keep things pretty simple. Ultimately we went with 6 plastic Adirondack chairs around the fire pit to enjoy on cozy winter nights.
