Salmon Bowl Recipe That’s Simple to Make

Salmon bowl topped with salmon, cucumber, mango, carrots, and onions

This salmon bowl has quickly become a new staple dinner item in our house. It’s similar to a poke bowl, but with cooked salmon. It’s very simple to make by only having to boil some rice and cook up the salmon. The rest of the ingredients are easily just chopped up and added to the top of the bowl. You can’t go wrong with this tasty meal that can be made in under 30 minutes. The salmon bowl has jasmine rice as the base then is topped with teriyaki salmon, mango, red onion, cucumbers and shredded carrots.

Ingredients Needed to Make this Salmon Bowl

  • 8 ounces of salmon
  • 1/4 cup of Teriyaki sauce
  • 1 mango
  • 1/4 of a red onion
  • 1 tbsp. green onions
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1/2 cup of shredded carrots
  • 2 cups of jasmine rice

How to Make this Recipe

First remove the skin from the 8 ounces of salmon, if it is still on. Then chop up the salmon. Place the salmon in a pan over medium heat with the 1/4 cup of teriyaki sauce. Next, add 1 tbsp. of chopped green onions to the pan and allow the salmon to fully cook. While the salmon is cooking start making the rice. Personally, I will typically use boil in the bag rice, but follow the directions for whatever rice you have. If you use boil in the bag, simply bring a pot of water to a boil, add in the bag of rice, and allow it to fully cook.

Once the salmon and rice are fully cooked remove them both from the stove. Dice 1 mango, 1/4 of a red onion, and 1 cucumber. Next place 1 cup of rice into each bowl. Then top with 4 ounces of cooked salmon, the diced mango, cucumbers, red onion, and shredded carrots. Lastly if there is teriyaki sauce left in the pan from the salmon, you can drizzle some more sauce over the whole bowl.

Helpful Tips for Making this Salmon Bowl

  • Don’t be afraid to switch out the toppings for this salmon bowl or add some other things. Sometimes I will also add edamame, avocado, and/or pineapple.
  • This bowl could also easily be made with shrimp instead of salmon. If seafood isn’t really your thing you could use chicken instead too.
  • I prefer using jasmine rice or brown rice for this recipe. For the quickest preparation consider using an instant or boil in the bag rice option.
